+ Submit Your SiteMarginalia50 is a web directory — a surveyed index of 826 active web destinations organised into 22 subject territories. It functions as a gazetteer: a reference work for locating online resources by category, compiled and maintained as a public browsing tool.
Yes. Submission and listing in Marginalia50 carry no charge. Use the Add a Site form, select the most appropriate territory from the 22 available, and submit your URL. Approved sites are added to the index without any fee.
Destinations are grouped into 22 named territories, each representing a broad subject area — from Legal Chambers and Medical Precincts to Gaming Precincts and Technology Sectors. Within each territory, listings are displayed in the order they were approved. You can browse any territory from the main index.
Visit the Add a Site page, enter your site URL, and select the territory that best describes your content. A short description will be generated automatically. Submissions are reviewed manually; those meeting the basic criteria for an active, categorisable web presence are approved and added to the index.
Most submissions are reviewed within a short processing window. There is no fixed deadline, and submitters are not individually notified of the outcome. If your site has been listed, it will appear in the relevant territory listing on Marginalia50.
Any active, publicly accessible website is eligible for consideration. The site should have content broadly matching one of the 22 subject territories and must be reachable at the time of review. Sites that are under construction, parked, or predominantly blank are not approved.
Each listing is placed in a single territory — the one that best describes the site as a whole. If a site spans multiple subject areas equally, it is placed in General Survey & Miscellaneous Entries, which is specifically maintained for destinations that resist single-category classification.
Marginalia50 is a web gazetteer: a methodical survey of 826 listed destinations organised into 22 named territories, from Gaming Precincts and Medical Stations to Press Territories and Legal Chambers. Like its paper antecedents, it makes no claim to comprehensiveness — it records what has been charted, and leaves the rest for future editions. Each entry represents an active web presence reviewed and approved before inclusion. The 22 territories reflect the principal categories of commercial and informational activity that define the contemporary web, and together they cover a considerable portion of the landscape. Browsing by territory is the recommended approach; the index rewards those who follow the survey grid rather than searching for a single landmark. Marginalia50 is updated as new destinations are submitted and approved, keeping the record as current as the web itself allows.
